Ask the Veterinarian/Siamese Vomiting

Question
My 6 year old male nuetered Siamese has been vomiting bile for a couple of days now (3).  He usually vomits 3-4 times every couple of hours.  He will not eat or drink and is very lethargic.  He has no prior health issues other than asthma, which he gets a Depo shot for every 3 months.  He has already had blood work done and it came back normal?  What could be wrong with him?

Answer
Susan -

Did you have radiographs of the abdomen taken?  It is strange that she would be vomiting  so often every few hours and the bloodwork come back normal.  Have the bloodwork redone - perhaps you can find something this time.

Unfortunately, I cannot give any suggestions explaining why your kitty is so sick without being able to examine the cat. Have the vet check the urinary tract for infections, and as I mentioned earlier have a radiograph taken to determine if the gastro-intestinal tract is obstructed.

You may want to consider food allergy if every other test comes back normal.  Food allergy or intestinal bowel disease are both syndromes to consider when cats have protracted vomiting.
