Ask the Veterinarian/broken bone in a cat

Question
My son's kitten was kicked off a balcony and broke 2 metatarsils in it's foot. He took it to the vet, had the bones set and a cast applied 9 days ago. Today he found it had shed its cast. What should he do? The first appointment cost $400. He is on a disability pension and we are on the old age pension. Does he need to take it back to be reset or can he splint it himself or can he just leave it?

Answer
Twigs -

Contact the veterinarian that repaired the foot and ask if the fracture would be okay without being reset. Snice there could be several kinds of fractures, there is no way for me to know what kind of fracture he has without actually seeing the radiographs.
