Question
I have a female Pekingese, she is nine years old and is pretty healthy except for the fact that she is about 3 lbs over weight.  For the past week she has been shedding excessively.  Anything and everything she goes near gets filled with her hair.  I have had her since she was 3 months old and she has never shed this bad.  Could something be wrong with her?

Answer

It could be that she is in the middle of a shedding cycle. If you are not seeing bald spots on her coat, then you should have nothing to worry about.  Shedding is nature's way of getting rid of old coat and getting a new  coat.
