i have a 5 month old sharpei puppy who produces excessive saliva, especially when sleeping, he awakes in a pool of saliva, his stomach makes quite a lot of noises, especially when he sleeps. Please can you advise me if this is normal for this breed?

To my knowledge, Shar Peis do tend to salivate excessively but I am not aware of salivation when sleeping. Have him examined by a veterinarian to determine if there is a malfunction of the salivary glands.
