Question
Is it okay to put a diaper on my female lab when she is not nursing?  She gave birth 2 days ago and has a discharge.  We were concerned it might interfere with her milk production or case mastitis.

Answer
Katrina -

A diaper might be a problem if the puppies are not able to nurse whenever they need to feed.

Check some of the pet stores for diapers that are made for doggies; perhaps they have some that will allow nursing, too.
