Question
Hi, I have a 14 year old male cat, that foe the past few years has had a benign growth apear on his lower lip line, he has had 3 surgeries and the growth will in about 8 to 10 months come back. I think my vet said that it was " Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex". The cause comes from having very bad Allergies. I'm going to change his food to Z/D, but is there anything that you can tell me that I am not already doing to help with this problem, he is on med's antibiotics and cortzone's. please help, thank you, Anna Alfano

Answer
Eosinophilic granulomas are generally allergic.  If the cortisone isn't working, the dose may need to be increased or the type may need to be changed.  We are using a new drug called ATOPICA for these.  If it is a food allergy, then the zd will help but it may take 4-6 weeks.  I also treat these with the laser as it iseems to regress with laser tharapy.
