Question

under right arm
our dachsi has these folds under her front legs that she constantly scratches.  she has hair loss in these areas as well as her belly and behind her ears. looks like some kind of dermatitis.  could it be caused by an allergy? fleas? her underside is almost hairless.  she is 2 years old.

Answer
This is pretty common in doxies.  It could be an allergy, low thyroid hormones, or the start of acanthosis nigricans condition common in doxies. Ask your vet to treat the dog with some steroids for allergy first. That will stop the itching and make the dog more comfortable.
