Ask the Veterinarian/morkie question

Question
Hi Doctor.  I have a morkie which is a combo of maltese and yorkie.  Last night she was acting unwell.  She went to sleep and woke up in the middle of the night with her tongue going in and out of her mouth, like a licking action. Nothing I could do would calm her.  She started to lick her paws, lick the bed, lick our hands, lick everything.  Then she vomited a little white foam.  I am wondering what this problem could be.  I've never encountered it with any of my dogs.  Thank you for your reply.  It would be appreciated.

Answer
Marge -

Perhaps your pup has an upset stomach.  Have her evaluated by a veterinary professional to determine why she is licking everywhere.  There are several conditions that can cause GI upset - pancreatitis, gastritis, etc.  These can be diagnosed by using bloodwork and radiographs.
