Question

Fiona
i have a 15lbs pug cross who gets little growths.  they grow like a pimple and when they pop they form a scab.  my vet said this was normal in small breeds and to just leave them alone, they will go away by themselves (@ the time she had a tiny growth).  now she has a dime sized growth just under her right nostril.  is there anything i can do to speed up the popping??  she seems uncomfy but she really doesn't seem to mind.  it is hard when poked and prodded but it doesn't hurt her when i check it.  any idea what this is???  can it be prevented???? why do some gets these and others don't???

Answer
Carol -

Sorry - I cannot give advice on these growths with the benefit of actually seeing them.  There are several growths that can affect certain breeds and it is virtually impossible for me to determine what those growths are  without an exam.

Consult with a veterinary dermatologist concerning your dog's skin lesions.
