Ask the Veterinarian/Alergies causing licking of paws

Question
I hav a portugese water dog with discoloration of paws from chronic licking.
How can we solve this? I have changed Foods and it has not helped.

Answer
Allergies do cause licking of the paws.  Cortisone type drugs help relieve the itching.  The dog may also have a yeast infection between the toes that is causing itching as well.  Food allergies rarely cause foot licking.  HAve your vet treat this dog properly.
