Ask the Veterinarian/Cat, open sore on nose

Question
I have a cat who has rubbed a very sore looking area along the bridge of his nose. It is so raw that it bleeds quite often.
We have tried every type of cream the vet has recommended, but nothing seems to work.
This cat is not a candidate for a "bell" around his neck, as he has other medical issues that require an implanted tube in his neck area for feeding him.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Answer
Three thoughts come to mind from your description.  Your vet will need to rule these out.

Mosquito bite hypersensitivity
Pemphigus
Food Allergy

Sometimes a shot of a long acting steroid called DepoMedrol helps. For food allergy, changing the diet will be necessary.

If they cannot figure it out, they can always biopsy the area to see what kind of disease is causing this.
