I have over 35 years experience in the field of veterinary medicine. I specialized in small animals and did wildlife rehab for over 25 years, mostly raptors, squirrels and opossums. I am a Small Animal Nutritional Consultant with 6 certificates from Hills Pet Foods, CNM and Purina. I also specialized in Small Animal Dentistry which is a field I truly love.

Hello
I have notice that my cat has being sneezing lately or trying to get something out of the nose...one time I saw something brownish liquid out of his nose....i do not know what is wrong with him....is there somthing i could buy a pet shop to give it to him, like a remedy or medication....his doing very well eating...seems healthy but is just the seezing....Help

Answer
Without knowing if he has a upper respiratory infection there is nothing you can treat him with at home. Cats are sensitive to so many drugs etc that one wrong one will kill them.

If he isn't current on his vaccinations he may have picked up a virus which will cause any number of symptoms: sneezing, coughing, runny eyes and nose, labored breathing. He can get pneumonia from these viruses also.

He really should see a vet if he isn't current on his vaccinations as he probably has one of these viruses. To prevent him from getting really ill the vet will put him on antibiotics also.
