Ask the Veterinarian - Removing a tick

Hi, I have a one and a half year old pomeranian and was wondering if you'd possibly know of another way to remove a tick without tweezers. I've searched online and have only seen that you have to use them in order to remove the head. The only problem is that I don't have any tweezers to get it out with. Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks.

Well,
we just pull them out. If you live where there is Lyme disease you might want to put on some latex gloves first. But we just grab them and pull until they pop out, head or no head.

Don't worry about the head. It will dry up and fall out in a week. It will not get infected etc. You can dab it with alcohol after you pull it out.

Just get it out, that is the most important thing- pulling what you can to kill it.
