Question
I have a 3 year old Pug/Terrier Mix. About 2 months ago she developed a red infection in between her paws that she licks and bites at. And recently she has developed dark brown scaly patches all over her underside, under her tail, and in the folds by her nose that itch her terribly. I have been cleaning then with apple cider vinegar and using a anti-fungal cream which seemed to help for a little while, but her outbreaks are now getting worse. What could this be, and are there any home remedies  i can use?

Thank you.

Answer
When dog start to get foot problems at this age it is often related to allergies.  That's where their skin itches from exposure of pollens, molds, mites, etc. that the walk in.  Many of these foot licking dogs will have secondary bacterial or yeast infections between their toes as a result.  These itch terribly, too.  You can soak the feet in a dilute vinegar solution and bathe the dog frequently, but usually e prescribe a low dose steroid to help the itching and then an antibiotic or antifungal to combat the infection.  Check with your vet.
