Question
Hi,

I have a persian cat who is currently pregnant and is due anytime now. The problem is that 3 days ago I checked her temp. and it was 37.5 Celcius which is way below normal. To my knowing, she is supposed to have her babies since there is a drop in temp but until today she didn't. She does not show any other signs of labor whatsoever.
Is this normal? i.e drop in temp for 3 days and no babies yet!!

Thanks

Answer
Blaze -

Cats generally do not have a drastic change in body temp as dogs do - but if her temp is lowering then she should deliver in about 48 hours.

She may also begin nesting at this point - hiding in dark quiet areas such as closets, or under the bed. Observe her carefully so that she does not hide so well that you aren't able to find her.

You should notice abdominal contractions - if four hours of contractions do not produce a kitten, then you should contact your veterinarian or animal ER if it occurs after hours.
