Ask the Veterinarian/feces eating dog

Question
i have a husky who eats his own feces, i was told it could be a result of poor quality dog food, could you please tell me what a good quality dog food is for him, he is only 21 months old.

Answer
It is either poor digestion or poor absorption of the food. The first thing I would recommend is to measure the food that you are feeding. Pups need about a cup of dry food per 20 lbs divided over the day. Undigested food will come out in the feces and is still palatable if he is eating too much. If that doesn't help, then try using a digestive enzyme called Viokase about 1/2 hour before feeding.
