Question
My dog has had this problem for weeks now, he has been on antibiotics for 2 weeks. Cleaning folds 2x a day with hibitante. Nothing is working! The smell is unbearable. The vet said he does not want to do surgery, because he is almost 9 yrs old and has a heart murmur. Hopefully you have a suggestion for something I can use on his mouth! I am at my wits end with this problem! Many thanks Gail

Answer
Unfortunately surgery may be the only answer.  You can use hydrogen peroxide or a chemical that we use for surgical preparation called chlorhexidine.  The objective is to kill the bacteria that are breaking down the food that gets stuck in the lip folds.
