Ask the Veterinarian/PUPPY WITH BLOOD AND MUCAS IN STOOL

Question
I just rescued a 10 wk. old sheltie from an Amish farm. I know for a fact he has roundworms and I have given him a liquid wormer 2 days ago. He is still passing worms etc. Last night he got out of his crate and wondered the house all night without us knowing it. This morning he is very lethargic, he won't eat or drink. He has passed stool and it has mucus and blood in it. Is this from the deworming medication?

Have your new dog evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible.  You should not take it upon yourself to treat your pet without first knowing what medication is needed.  Your dog might be lethargic due to intestinal parasites other than roundworms or he might be dehydrated.

Your veterinarian can properly diagnose your pet's illness and can determine what medication is needed.
