Question
I have a nine year old spayed female cat that has anal leakage when picked up. It is runny with a bad odor and looks like diarrhea but the odor is different. She is fed strictly Iams original cat food. What can I do to prevent this?

Answer
Tami -

Have your cat examined by a veterinarian.  It sounds as if her anal sacs are expressing when you pick her up, but it is impossible to determine that without the benefit of a physical exam.  If the anal sacs are expressing on their own, your veterinarian can give recommendations to prevent this from occurring.
