Ask the Veterinarian/Cat vomiting more frequently than usual

Question
I have a 6 year old cat who will occasionally gobble his food and vomit or vomit when he has a hairball. This doesn't happen too frequently and my vet said he is fine. This weekend he vomited several times but seems fine now. It all looked liked food or hairballs. I should add that I think he's stressed out. He doesn't deal well with change and we have a baby on the way. Can this be the cause?

Answer

There are several reasons why cats vomit or "throw up" their food.  Constipation, hairballs, inflammatory bowel disease and stress are just a few conditions that can cause a cat to vomit.  Have your pet examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible to determine why he is vomiting.
