Dr. Gotthelf,

 I have a 2 yr old basset that i just adopted from the pound. I took him to the vet and he told me i need to buy him some meds to prevent ear infections. I would like to purchase the meds online since they're not as expensive. What do you recommend? I was wondering if you knew anything for eyes as well?

It is hard to prevent ear infections since in Bassetts, they have a genetic predisposition to yeast infections.  As a routine ear cleaner, I would recommend Malacetic Otic made by Dermapet.  You can get it online. Use it once a week to keep the number of yeast organisms down.
