Ask the Veterinarian/Puppy liquid secretion issues when asleep

Question
I have a 10 month old Shetland Sheepdog.  She was spayed at 6 and a half months.  In the past couple days, I have noticed her having an issue when asleep.  She releases a very small amount of what I would think is pee, but I'm not certain.  Yesterday, she was asleep on me when she did it, and the clothing she got it on did not smell particularly like urine, but possibly could have been secreted by her vagina.  Is this normal for spayed puppies, or something I should take her to my vet for?

Answer
Anne -

It is not uncommon for young puppies to develop vaginitis. This may account for the incontinence your pup is experiencing when she sleeps.

Have her evaluated by a veterinarian to determine what the problem is - if in fact it is vaginitis, it can be challenging to treat.
