Question
My pom is panting excessively.  He has been diagnosed with heart and kidney illness.  The excessive panting just began tonight.  He is taking theophline, lasix and rhymadil daily.  How concerned should I be and can I wait to take him to the vet for two days?

Answer
Deb -

Have your dog examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible.  He may be uncomfortable due to respiratory distress or he may be in pain. Your veterinarian may have to place your pup on additional medication for his heart or increase the dose of the meds he is taking now.
