Question
My tabby cat is approximately 16 years old and he recently has been losing weight.  I have been watching his behavior and everything else seems fine. His eating and sleeping habits seem regular too. His stool hasn't changed and his energy level seems regular too.  Do you think there is anything I should be looking out for?

Answer
Doreen -

There are several reasons why an older cat might be losing weight.  Have him examined by a veterinarian to check for kidney problems, liver disease, an overactive thyroid or any other problem that is fairly common with increased age.
