Ask the Veterinarian - demodex australian shepard

Expert: Dr. Louis N. Gotthelf - 7/4/2009

Question
CAN YOU USE PROMERIS BI-WEEKLY ALONG WITH INTERCEPTER DAILY TO CURE DEMODEX MANGE ON MY AUSTRALIAN SHEPARD PUPPIES?

Answer
Yes, that is an alternative therapy.  Promeris contains amitraz, which is the normal topical treatment for mange. It stinks horribly and it can cause some weird skin diseases in some susceptible dogs (pemphigus).  Interceptor for 30 days seems to help, to.
