Question
Hi,
I have a 10year old Dalmation who is about 65 lbs. Recently she has come down with lamness in her back legs and is in lots of pain. Her doctor put her on tramadol 50mg and methocarbamol500 tabs. the tramadol doens't seem to be reliving her pain. I was wondering if Tylenol 3 or Fioricet would help her more..

Answer
Emily -

Did you have radiographs taken to determine why your dog is in pain?  Perhaps another medication is needed to relieve pain - ask your veterinarian for an antiinflammatory such as Rimadyl or Metacam.  Try to find the source of her pain and it will be easier to control her discomfort.
