Ask the Veterinarian/temporary paralysis in retreiver mix

Question
My 4 yr. old retriever mix experienced a short term paralysis while in the yard. He did not shake, just could not stand up. It lasted for about 3-4 minutes, then he jumped up & ran around as though nothing had happened. Earlier he had been chewing on something hard, perhaps a piece of mulch. He is on Frontline for fleas & ticks & has not been at daycare for several weeks.

Answer
Kate -

You should have your dog examined by a Kate as soon as possible. There is a possibility that your dog had a loss of steroids or may have experienced a drop in glucose - whatever the reason, have your vet check it out so that you can determine why he was unable to stand.
