Question

Merly_growth
Hope you van help because my Vet has cost £500 with no real help. Merlin is 18months old, a growth came up on the side of his head (near his eye about the size of a medal) very quickly. It is nodular. The vet had a biopsy done which showed no malignancy etc. Merlin had a month's antibiotics whilst the results came back. As the growth did not recede the biopsy results were questioned and the result came back the same.
The vet told me that the growth was the equivalent of a skin tag type item (on a human) and would likely stay. It has not got any bigger but today the boy scratched it and it bled. I have tried researching it further but really need an expert. My vet was delighted for me to ask a forum which did not give me much confidence!! Anyway, Merly is insured so I am hoping your help could target treatment if required. I have attached a photo. Probably unrelated, but his nearest eye was watering (like conjunctivitous) when it first came up and when he started scratching it. Normally he leaves it alone. Many thanx Tony

Answer
You did not say what the biopsy showed, just that it showed no malignancy.  But what did the report say it was?  In my practice, I have a CO2 laser, which I would use to vaporize this mass off and let it heal.  If there is someone in the UK that you can find with a laser, then that is the preferred way to remove this.  On the face, there is not much extra skin to pull together for stitches when a wide excision is done with a scalpel.
