Ask the Veterinarian/ear infection

Question
Hello, My Vet said my 7 year old female cat has a yeast ear infection. He gave me oti-clens and mometamax to use for 10 days.
He said it was safe for cats too. I have seen a big improvement in just 3 days. It this stuff safe to keep using on her? I don't want her to lose her hearing, I heard that could happen. Please respond. Thank You respectfully.

Answer
Actually, yeast infections are uncommon in cats.  The yeast they get is non-pathogenic.  The Mometamax has a very potent steroid in it that is making the ear feel better.  I would ask for a drop called Synotic instead of the gentamycin containing Mometamax.
