Question
my pug just broke his dew claw at the base of his foot and it's bent backwards and bleeding do I cut it off myself and do I take him to the vet and if I cut it off myself what do I do next?

Answer
You probably should cut it off then wrap it lightly with some bandaging to get the bleeding to stop and keep him from snagging it until the vet can see it.

Press some white flour or cornstarch  to it if it won't stop bleeding unless you have a steptic pencil. That will work too.

Unwrap it tomorrow and look it over and see how it looks then re-wrap it. Have the vet look it over on Monday if it looks red, swollen or is bleeding or cracked.
