Ask the Veterinarian/red spot on dogs nose

Question
My miniature American Eskimo recently acquired a red spot on the top of his snout just before his nose. I don't know if he scratched his nose(the red spot isn't that big, about the size of my pinky tip) or if its something else.

Answer
If he injured it, it will take a while for it to re-pigment.  If there was no injury and it is getting larger, then it could be one of the autoimmune diseases; either discoid lupus or pemphigus.  Have your vet check it.  A steroid creme may be needed for both of these conditions.
