Question
I have a 9 1/2 wk old rat terrier puppy whose vet suspects that he has mange. I refuse to use prescription drugs on my dogs and I have never had a dog with this problem but was wondering if there is a natural/home remedy way to treat it that also won't break the bank.I have heard desitin, used motor oil(not a fan of that one)as well as tea tree oils work. what do you think and which would you suggest and do you know of any your self.thanks
robin

Answer
If it is demodex mange, over 80% of them will not have it at a year of age.  The pup will suffer through it if you don't want her treated.  There is nothing over the counter that will kill demodex mites.  The best things are ivermectin and amitraz to kill mites.
