Ask the Veterinarian/Hot Spots on my Bichon

Question
Good Afternoon. What is the best treatment for a large "hot spot" on my 4 yr old Bichon. Thank you very much in advance!

Answer
The best thing to do is to shave the spot until you see normal skin.  Wash it twice daily with soap and water to remove any serum or pus on the skin, and get him a shot of a steroid to take away the reaction on the skin. Antibiotics may or may not help.
