Question
I am considering adopting a 3 year old yorkie. She weighs 3 lbs.  I was wondering how long she would be able to hold her bladder before going out to potty. I work part time so most days I am home. On the days I work I want to know if she would be able to hold it all day. Also what would be the best food to give her. Thanks for your time.

Answer
If properly trained, most dogs can hold their bladder for 8 hours, sometimes longer. Working part time shouldn't be a problem. However, as I said, that is if she is properly trained.

Little dogs, and especially Yorkies, are prone to having bad teeth, so you want to get her on a food that is going to be good for her teeth as well as give her optimal nutrition for her life stage and age.

We recommend Science Diet Small Bites Adult food since it is made for dental health and has the perfect balance of nutrients to keep her strong and healthy.

Switch her over to it slowly over a weeks time and she will thank you for a lifetime.

Make sure she is tested for heartworms as well and on monthly prevention, as well as being current on her vaccinations.

Most of all, have fun with her!! Yorkies are SWEET dogs!!
