Question
Hi, I have a male persian cat 1 year and 7 mos. old. I noticed that he's losing hair around his ears, and it gets redder and bigger each day I think, and I think its also very itchy. His ears are also losing some hair but it doesn't have the same sounds like what's around his ears. I've been washing every other day and putting antifungal powders, the thing goes away for a few days but it still comes back afterwards. I don't know what else to do with it. Hope this site can help. Thanks! -jaja

Answer
You should have the cat's ears examined by a vet to see if there is an infection, ear mites, a polyp, or a ruptured eardrum.

Sometimes in a food allergy, cats will get red hot itchy ears.  Changing the protein source in the diet may help if that is the case,
