Ask the Veterinarian/My dogs giant neck lump

Question
My dog has a giant lump on her neck and we have no clue what it might be or what to do?

Answer
You obviously need to let a vet look at the lump.  Sometimes there are enlarged lymph nodes or large salivary glands and sometimes there is a blocked salivary duct causing the lump.  If the lump is limited to the skin on the neck, there may be some type of cyst or skin tumor present.
