Question
I have a 3 year old Great Perennes and he is really itching his ears, and whenever I try to rub them he whines and tries to bite. What can I use to put him to sleep so I can clean his ears and take a better look at what may be irritating him?
There is nothing you can use to do this. There are reasons that drugs for anesthesia are under the control of a veterinarian-mainly because without training you will most likely kill your dog. Just the facts. Not trying to be harsh here.
Your dog probably has a nasty yeast infection going on deep inside of his ears.
You need to have a vet put him under, clean them out, check them for foreign bodies such as stickers, twigs etc. and then medicate them.
Then you will continue the treatment at home. So call your vet tomorrow- many of them are open on Presidents Day....
