Question
I have 2 small dogs one 7lbs and the other 9lbs.  I was going to buy Revolution to give to them but its very costly with two dogs.  I would normally buy monthly applications for small dogs 5-10lbs.  My question is that they have the application for medium dogs 10-20lbs for just a few dollars more.  Could I buy the Revolution for medium and then just split the dose in half each month for both of my dogs?

Thank you
Stephanie

Answer
It is not recommended that you divide the dose because when you are giving this drug for heartworm prevention one dose that is the wrong size can result in a heartworm infection. That is a road you do not want to go down. I don't use it, but you can ask your vet where you bought it if that will work, but all of the warnings I have read are against it. Not for $$$ reasons but for the one I mentioned.

You might want to switch to a cheaper drug such as Interceptor. I use Sentinel myself and my pets have been free of fleas and heartworms for over 20 years.
