hello,
i have a standard poodle who just turned 8 at the beginning of january.  we have a groomer and have seen many vets for her ear infections, given countless medications, had lots of hair pulled from her ears, etc etc.  my family is barely able to keep her in the house because her ears smell so horrible.  anyway what would you suggest as our next step to clear her of pain and the smell of the infection?

If you have seen numerous vets and there is no resolution, then you might need to see a skin and ear specialist. Sometimes there is a middle ear infection and sometimes there are tumors in the ears.  Fine a vet that has a vidoe otoscope who can anesthetize the dog and get a good deep ear examination.
