Question
broken blood vessel
broken blood vessel
Hi Jana

I have a staffy/ cross, female, 6 years old and in very good health.
But in the beginning of this year she got a red spot on her tommy.
Looked alot like blood just under the skin and easy to see on a white belly.
Only for 1 month ago, she got this little bobble with blood in it just where the red spot is. I tried to empty it but it very quick got filled up with blood again.
It does not seem to bother the dog at all.
I just read about a dog on your weebsite, who had what you call a Hematoma in the ear and it sounds alot like the one my dog have.
My question is= Do I have to be concerned???
I have not been to a vet yet. Just waiting for the wac. to be doe.
But if you think I will need to do something soon, I will.
Looking forward to hear from you

many thanks Diana

Answer
This looks like a blood blister, not a hematoma. A hematoma is usually a bruising under the skin. An ear hematoma is a ruptured vessel under the skin.

I would just leave this for a day and see what happens, but she should see a vet if it doesn't resolve in a few days. She could have nipped herself grooming and done this.

I don't know what this means, by the way: Just waiting for the wac. to be doe.

So give it 24 hours then take her in if it's still there.
