Ask the Veterinarian/new cat from Humane Society

Question
Hi. 4 days ago, I adopted a 6 year old neutered male cat from the Humane Society. My other 2 cats and he appear to be OK with each other, a little hissing, no real problems.

But he seems to HATE me. He's very affectionate with everyone else. He loved my vet...my friends...and the Humane Society said his previous owners said he's extremely affectionate. But when I try to pet him, he actually RECOILS from me and runs under the bed or somewhere else I can't get to him. I've owned cats all my adult life (I'm over 50) and NEVER had an animal react like this to me. I'm quiet and gentle with him, but he acts like he can't tolerate my presence - like my smell is bad or something. I've tried showering and not using any kind of lotion or topical medication, in case he's repulsed by the smells. But it didn't help. When my friends are over, he's very social with them. When I'm alone with him (and the other 2 cats) he goes behind the sofa & won't budge. One of my friends thinks maybe he's freaked out because I have psoriasis and he can smell "illness" on me. I'm really upset about it. I don't want my new cat to be miserable in his new home, and if he doesn't stop hating me, I'm going to have to return him to the Humane Society to find a home with someone he likes better. As I said - he seems to like everyone else, but he literally RUNS away from my presence. I'm heartbroken... Can you help me? I've already had him to the vet, and he's healthy.
Thank you.

Answer
I am always amazed at different behaviors in cats and dogs - and people, too. It is not your psoriasis, for sure. I do not know what it is. While I can suggest flower essences that are totally safe and may help him shift, I really think you need to speak with several animal communicators/psychics/intuitives to see why he is averse to only you.

Please email me at Healthyanimals@aol.com when you find out the issues.

1. Intuitives who all work by phone (may need a picture to help:

2. Flower essences
Rescue Remedy is a "generic" make you feel better. Once the intuitive tells you why he is averse to you, you can better pick some flower essences from:
Bach, spirit Essences, Green Hope Essences, Anaflora, delta garden or others.

Expertise

I can give you the holistic approach to any problem in any species, though mostly I work with dogs and cats. Depending on the condition and the type of animal, I will be able to give very specific treatment suggestions such as what flower essences, homeopathic remedies, nutritional supplements, diet changes, lifestyle changes or herbs that may be helpful - not drugs. I can also suggest where you can go for further education or to find a specialist in a specific holistic field. I can help you understand why your animal is ill and what improvements can be expected. I do not check messages more than every one to two days, so PLEASE DO NOT ask about EMERGENCIES - call your local veterinarian. I cannot diagnose your animal. I cannot prescribe specific treatments. I am no longer very current with conventional treatments, so cannot answer questions on those. I am not an expert on birds or small critters. I will give you helpful connections about hose species.
