Ask the Veterinarian/Bump on ear

Question
We have a new puppy, 9 weeks old.  2 days ago 2 bumps appeared on the end (outside) of her ear flap.  Over the last 24 hours these bumps have become hard and crusty and look alittle white.  They don't appear to cause her any pain. We aren't sure what they are.  Any ideas and should she go the vet?

Answer
Young pups are very prone to Staph infections on their skin because they have little natural immunity to that bacteria.  For now, wash it with an antibacterial soap and if it spreads or gets worse ask the vet to look at it.  You should be seeing the vet for the puppy shots every 3 weeks, so that will be a good opportunity to discuss this.
