Ask the Veterinarian/Cat Dandruff

Question
Hello, My cat appears to have dandruff, which is usually worse in the summer. He recently had a sore patch at the end of his back close to his tail and the fur was thinner. I treat him for fleas and worms and he wears a flea collar.
Regards Beverley

Answer
Some cats with dandruff actually have ringworm.  Ask your vet to check for that.  If that is not the problem, then it could be a problem with the oils in the food.  Try using an Omega3 Fatty Acid Dietary Supplement in the food for 60 days to see if that helps.
