Ask the Veterinarian/Cat walking in circles....

Question
About three years ago I adopted a blind cat from the pound. In the time I have had her she has had "issues" with peeing in the litter box. Sometimes she will, sometimes she won't, preferring my bed.

Recently she is having a really hard time walking straight. She seems to get lost and walk in clockwise circles. She gets dizzy and falls sometimes, and finally cries loudly.

This is making me very sad, as I have alwaya been a little suspect of her health overall.

What could be the problems? Someone mentioned a possible ear infection?

Thanks,

Justin

Answer
A middle ear or an inner infection can affect balance.  YOu should have the cat checked by a vet to see if there is a middle ear problem or a polyp in the ear.  Be very careful about the choice of eardrops, as some of them can cause dizziness and circling.
