Question
My 4 month old female pug puppy just started Mitoban dips for demodex.  It makes her quite drowsy, hungry, and thirsty afterwards.  Are these toxic side effects?  How effective are these dips and how many dips does it require on the average to treat a puppy?

Answer
Usually after the first couple of dips, they do not get the side effects.  There is a drug called Yohimbine that reverses the advers effects. We consider 6 dippings one treatment.  If the puppy can't tolerate the Mitaban, the vet can prescribe oral ivermectin instead. Mitaban is very effective in pups.  Most pups will actually outgrow their demodex as their immune system becomes mature.
