Dr. Fry attended University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia, PA where she received her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) degree in 1998. She also attended Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with Departmental Honors and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1994.

Question Our Jack Russell Terrier has a wet, hacking cough that lasts throughout the day that does not seem to go away. Our veterianarian has prescribed Benadryl, but it just seems to be getting worse. She has had blood tests and they are all normal. What do you think it is? Thank you so much for your time.
Answer Kennel cough would be my first guess. You can try giving Robitussin (Guaifenisen and Dextromethorphan) at a dose of 1/2 tsp every 4 hours. If not better, I would recommend antibiotics. You can also load him up on Vitamin C and give 10 mg per pound every 4-6 hours.
