Ask the Veterinarian/Doggie Stomach Problems

Question
My 3 year old blue healer mix has been vomiting for approx the last 5-6 days on and off. We took her to the vet and she gave her 2 shots and metoclopramide to take twice a day. She said wait 4 days and if she's still vomiting to come back. Well its been 2 and she's still vomiting, and our biggest worry is that she actually hasn't held down a meal in at least 4 days. Do you think this is some kind of intestinal blockage or stomach issue that needs immediate attention? Thank you.

Answer
Vomiting and not holding down food or water could be a blockage.  If your dog is not able to hold down food or water, or has become lethargic or quieter than normal, I would recommend a return trip to the vet even if it is sooner than recommended, or at least a phone call to your vet to let him/her know you are worried and why.  Best of luck to you and I hope your dog feels better soon.
