Question
What is the best treatment and prevention for long haired persian cats? What is the best grooming brush to use to groom a long haired persian cat? Email me back at stephanieerin@hotmail.com Thanks Steph

Answer
The treatment is usually oral petroleum jelly.  It is disguised in many hairball remedies but if you read the labels, they contain petrolatum.  I recommend combing cats with a special type of comb called a flea comb.  The teeth of the comb are very close together and they are long enough to get down to the skin and trap all of the loose hairs. You will be amazed at how much hair will come out with a flea comb. I do not like brushes because you will only pick up the loose hairs at the surface of the coat.
