What are symptons of Puppy mange?  I have a Boxer-5 1/2 month old.  She has been itching a bit in areas.

There are 2 types of mange.  One is called demodex and causes hair loss without itching.  It starts on the face and legs and will get infected if not treated. This type of mange shows up because of an immune system problem and in puppies it often goes away when their immune system finally starts working.  The other type ofmange is called sarcoptic.  It starts on the ear margins, elbows, and chest and itches like crazy.  It is sometimes called the mad itch. It can infect people.  Have your vet check the puppy's skin to see if it is mange and what type.
