Dr. Fry attended University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia, PA where she received her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) degree in 1998. She also attended Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with Departmental Honors and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1994.

Question We have recientely had a litter of 12 puppies all of wich are now at the age of 19 days old and are develouping a flea problem. My question is, what would be the safest and best product for there age to rid them of fleas and are there any home remides that work as good or better?
Answer I would recommend applying ADVANTAGE from the veterinarian. Apply the full adult dose to mom, and even though off-label I would apply 1/2 of the dose to the puppies for their weight-range. You should also vacuum all the carpets and toss out the vacuum bag. Place a flea collar in the new vacuum bag. If the problem is severe, then you should use area treatment spray around the house. There really are not any home-remedies that truly work for fleas.
